Drake was featured on the second installment of Metro Boomin’ and 21 Savage’s Savage Mode. He made headlines when he revealed that he “dated SZA back in ’08.”
“Yeah, said she wanna fuck to some SZA, wait / ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08,” Drizzy rapped on “Mr. Right Now.”
The singer unfollowed him after he unnecessarily spilled that tea. But fans immediately started putting two and two together and alleged that she was underage when they dated.
“So this dude Drake openly admitted to dated an underage SZA (08’-she was 17/18… he was 21-22) and even if she was 18 we gon excuse him for grooming?!???” one user tweeted.
SZA hopped on Twitter to clear the air real quick and suggested that the Toronto rapper was simply trying to rhyme.
“So It was actually 2009 lol 🙃.. in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered 🥴lol I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait . Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm.. it’s all love all peace,” she wrote.
The “Broken Clocks” singer continued, “I just didn’t want anybody thinking anything underage or creepy was happening . Completely innocent . Lifetimes ago .”
