Shonda Rhimes’ ‘Bridgerton’ Renewed For Season 2 By Netflix

'Bridgerton' Becomes Netflix's Highest Streamed Series

Shonda Rhimes’ newest hit series, Bridgerton, is returning for season 2 on Netflix.

The show follows the Bridgerton family as they navigate through societal expectations and rigorous marriage market.

It’s based on Julia Quinn’s romance novel series.

Lady Whistledown, voiced by Julie Andrews, announced the renewal with all the pomp you’ll expect from our favorite mysterious hopeless romantic.

“The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honor to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season,” Netflix’s announcement reads. “I do hope you stored a bottle of ratafia for this most delightful occasion.”

The statement continued, “The incomparable cast of Bridgerton will return to production in the Spring of 2021.” An as expected, Lady Whistledown confirmed that the upcoming season will follow the Viscount. “This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities.”

If you haven’t watched the series since its Christmas debut, stop reading here and check back for more details on season 2.

“However, gentle reader, before you set the comments section alight with requests for more sordid details, know that I am disinclined to report on the particulars at this time. Patience, after all, is a virtue,” Whistledown concluded.

Season 1 ended off with Daphne’s older brother, Anthony Bridgerton, also known as the viscount, claiming that he’s ready to settle down.

Anthony spent most of the season on-and-off-again lover, Sienna, who eventually put herself first and put an end to their situationship due to their social statuses.

Do you think Anthony will successfully find love or will he start playing Young Bleu’s “You’re Mine Still” the next time he pulls up on her? Will the Duke bury his past childhood trauma so that he can be the husband to the Dutchess that we know he can be? Will Lady Whistedown’s identity ever be revealed? Find out in season 2, and look DJ Khaled would say, Shonda Rhimes got “another one.”
