NBA YoungBoy Is Being Investigated By Feds Following 2020 Drug Arrest

Baton Rouge-based rapper NBA YoungBoy is now being investigated by federal authorities after an arrest at a video shoot resulting in drug charges.

NBA YoungBoy aka Kentrell Gaulden, along with 15 other individuals, were arrested in September of last year during the filming of a music video, which uncovered fourteen firearms, three grams of marijuana and a dose of hydrocodone. Gauden was charged with possession of schedule 1 drugs, distribution/manufacturing of schedule 2 drug and distribution/manufacturing of schedule 4 drug. He was not charged with any of the firearms.

Police say that they arrested members of the “Never Broke Again” (NBA) and “Bottom Boy Gorilla” (BBG) groups, which they described as street gangs.

YoungBoy’s lawyer James Manasseh filed a motion asking a 19th Judicial District Court judge to release him from his bond supervision since it was four months since the arrest and no charges had filed by the East Baton Rouge Attorney’s office. On Monday(February 9), District Attorney Hillar Moore III, contacted Manasseh by phone and stated, “The matter is still being reviewed by our office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”

U.S. Attorney Brandon Fremin said it is his office’s policy not to reveal that investigations are being conducted.

“There’s no crime committed by Kentrell in this,” he said. “They didn’t find him in possession of anything (illegal). They just arrested everybody.”

YoungBoy is currently free on a $75,000 secured state bond.
