Lil Wayne Gets Pardon from Trump Days Before Leaving Office

It’s looking like Lil Wayne could be let off the hook regarding his federal gun case. Before Trump leaves office, he is expected to pardon around 50 – 100 people, which could include some very well known rappers.

With Trump’s last day being January 20th, one of his official orders includes pardoning dozens of sentences. A meeting was held to finalize the list of pardons on January 17. According to a report, this list includes white-collar criminals, high-profile rappers, and a jailed Florida eye-doctor. Pertaining the possible ‘high-profiled rappers’ on that list, Lil Wayne might be one of them. Earlier this month, it was reported that Trump was considering whether to extend pardons to both Lil Wayne and Kodak Black.

Trump started rolling out pardons and commutations at a steady clip ahead of Christmas last year. However, he had paused them in the days leading up to the riots at the US Capitol, according to officials. He’s now back on track and is finishing what he started.

By Trump pardoning, Wayne would seem to be a favor for a favor. The Rapper Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to a federal firearms charge in December last year. He’s now also awaiting sentencing. Furthermore, the New Orleans rapper supported Trump weeks before the 2020 presidential election. With kind words and a photo on Twitter Wayne tweets,

“Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”

In addition to Lil Wayne’s possible pardon, Trump has other promises to keep. Trump has a Platinum Plan for black communities which promises to bring almost $500 billion into Black communities, provide better and affordable health care, and more.
