Akon Secures Ugandan Land for Second 'Akon City'

Akon has his eye set on building a second futuristic city in Africa.

Revolt reports that the rapper was granted more land by the Ugandan government that is one square mile.

There are no other details available at this time like how much the city will cost to build or what amenities will be there. But it’s expected to be finished by 2036.

Just like the first city Akon plans to operate it with his cryptocurrency Akoin.

The rapper turn mobile held a press conference and was asked if the regular Ugandan citizen will be able to afford to live in his city.

He responded, “I know if I put it there, they’re going to find a way to afford it because it’s going to motivate them,” Akon said. “But ultimately when you create an opportunity, people grow with that opportunity, people learn with that opportunity, people are motivated with that opportunity.”

Last January Akon announced that he will be opening his futuristic city in his hometown of Senegal. “Just finalized the agreement for AKON CITY in Senegal. Looking forward to hosting you there in the future,” he wrote on Instagram at the time.

The Senegalese ‘Akon City’ Cost about 6 billion dollars to construct and will operate on cryptocurrency as well. It’s expected to be completed in three years according to Complex.
